How much would a dreadnought acoustic get untuned in 35-40 (F) weather? Would there be some sort of other effects?

all timber will react to changes in temp as will your strings.play in the shade if possible and retune regularily.

Acoustic guitars are very sensitive to extremes in temperature and humidity.

Forget the detuning, you could end up destroying your guitar... at that temperature the moisture in the wood will expand and if it freezes might split the wood or cause an inside brace to come loose. Extended exposure will cause the finish to crack and the neck to react badly.

If your guitar is relatively cheap and has laminated back, sides, and top then the issue is less profound, but damaging nonetheless.

I wouldn't be able to play, so staying in tune wouldn't matter. It would be pain full, my fingers would break off. It hurts to think about.
