Just google aquarium plants and you will have a huge list of sites with good photos, info and lists of plants.

I would strongly suggest you not try a house plant in an aquarium. Not only will it die, but the chemicals used on house plants can be deadly to your fish.

Most houseplants won't survive for long "in" an aquarium. The leaves have stomata that are used for air exchange, so the leaves need to be out of the water. This is why a lot of the things that are sold nowadays in pet stores as "aquatic" plants don't last very long.

A few years back there was a thing that would hang on your tank (or put on your filter, it was on the back of the tank somewhere!) that you could put any plant in that wouldn't mind having it's roots wet.

If you could suspend them so the leaves are out of the water Spathyphyllum (peace lily), Sanderiana ("lucky 'bamboo'"), Anthurinum (flamingo flower) would fit the description.

I'll see if I can find more about the contraption I mentioned and post a website.

Here's one for "true" aquatic plants, plus some that are sold as aquatics which really aren't: http://www.ausfishforum.com/forum/files/bettaspawn2.jpg

Can't seem to find these - it's very likely they aren't sold anymore, and probably didn't work that well, aas most housplants can't survive in the soggy soil. Plant roots need to be able to get some air, unless they have adapted over time to live in an aquatic environment. Here are two additional sites for plants that will be happy in an aquarium: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/product/categoryInfo.web?options.passInCategoryKey=23204 , http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pCatId=768

Check the plant requirements of any you might be interested in to see if your lighting will be enough for them. Low light plants should have aroung 3 watts per gallon, high light should have 5 or more watts per gallon.

I would'nt really suggest it because house plants are exactly that-HOUSE PLANTS. They are also adapted breathing air in air but not in water which is why thay should'nt be in water. Just use some from the pet supplies store and you could get some that look like the one you want.
