I have two bettas of whom I am trying to spawn. This morning there was no bubble nest, and the female was very lively, however, when I awoke from my nap this evening, there was a nest and the female looked as if she was sick (not moving very much, kind of just lying there.) How do I find out if she has laid eggs?

You can see them in the bubble nest. Look at the bottom of the nest and you should see the eggs, they will be slightly darker and milky looking compared to the bubbles.

i have had male bettas devour the eggs, and that i have had them devour the fry, too. at the same time as this has befell in the previous, that's always been on the first spawn for the male. i'm no longer particular how undemanding that's, in spite of the undeniable fact that that's befell to me a number of circumstances. i have also had the lads devour each of the fry, too. i don't know that there is truly any particular clarification for it, yet probably that's the strain of figuring out on the eggs up over and once more beneficial, he basically makes a decision he would not want to do it anymore? Or it may nicely be that he would not know what to do, because he's youthful and his instincts have not kicked in to the fullest volume. attempt now to not feed the male after the spawning has exceeded off, until eventually the fry are loose-swimming and also you may eliminate him from the tank. As unusual because it sounds, once you feed him a touch, it distracts him from his fatherly responsibilities, and infrequently that's going to whet his urge for foodstuff, and he will start up snacking on the eggs or the fry.

The eggs will be the things that the male keeps picking up off the bottom and blowing back into the nest. You did leave the male in the aquarium, didn't you? When the spawning is over remove the female(in the wild the male drives the female away,in a tank she will wind up dead). The male will tend the eggs and fry until the fry can breathe whole air,(about three weeks).-----Good luck,PeeTee

If she laid eggs, you would be able to see them in the bubblenest. Have to look real close, though. They will be opaque white and smaller than the bubbles - usually right at the bottom of where bubbles come together. I'll look for a photo to post.

you can see the eggs milky in color and you might want to move the male into another small tank, also she should start moving around within a day if not keep an eye on her
