I'm 13 and I love art; painting, sketching, abstract, everything. But I don't have enough room in my school schedule to fit in art, with French and Orchestra, and the required gym, all my encore periods are full!!! :-( So, I looked into the Lemon Street Gallery,a nd the museum by my house, but their classes are either for adults or little children. I guess my main questions is where do you suggest I look for early-teen-level art classes?

if you live in a city large enough to have an art gallery, you may also have a university or technical college in your area.. i know that the technical college near where i live offers art programs on the weekends for people in the community for a small price
and sometimes organizations like the YMCA have a lot of programs for teenagers.. if you have one of them in your area, id say check them out.. most have websites with that information available
if you havent already, you may also want to ask the art teacher at your school.. he or she may have information for you

If you are talented and mature, take a portfolio and ask to meet with one of the directors or instructors of the adult's art classes at Lemon Street Gallery. Sometimes such institutes will admit a dedicated and talented teen to adult classes. They're usually called "Adult" classes only because they don't want a bunch of little kids running around and throwing paint and screaming. Adult classes may also be longer in time (2-3 hours) but you can check it out.
When I was 13, I was in adult classes for art because I was mature and had talent. It's worth a shot.

There are usually Summer programs in most areas for kids your age. Perhaps if your family can afford it, they can send you to art sleepaway camp in the summer.
Every community is different. Check if there are art studios in your area, or perhaps the library, a community center or the YMCA. You may want to talk to the art teacher in your school. They may be able to direct you to the right place.

Contact your local community colleges...they offer art classes to anyone. I have a 15 year old that goes to our local community college for art classes
