Common tennis balls are an "Optic Yellow" color and is intended to have the best overall visibility. Some people think that orange is more visible in certain conditions, but it doesn't show up well on TV, so it won't be adopted for many pro events.

Bright yellow. It's that color so that the ball sticks out. If it were white, it would blend in with the color of the in/out lines, white T-shirts in the crowd (hard to see with the sun) and if it were green, it would blend in with the court.
