Why is it bad to wear white after labor day?

Oh, it's just an old way of thinking. Basically, it was a rule of thumb because white shoes/handbag/etc. seem more spring/summer-y to a lot of people. Since the big summer season generally ends with Labor Day, that's where it came from.
