Yes I've seen some photos of the A5. It is a nice coupé, looks like a BMW 3 series from behind. Audi used to do legendary coupés, like the famous Audi Coupé Quattro in the 80ies...The rally version, Audi Quattro Group B, was a fantastic racing machine...

The Audi A5 is actually going to compete with the BMW 6 series, not the 3 series. The A5 is a larger real 4-seater just like the 6 series, whereas a 3 series is a small 2+2.

Although this is the first time Audi has made a coupe, I am guessing just like the Q7 it is going to have a welcome response from the public.

Audi's philosophy is to make the best cars, and not necessarily the most cars. They are not interested in being the highest sellers because the downside of that is then the cars become so ubiquitous that everyone and their kitchen help own one.

Feature for feature and dollar for dollar, Audis are far better value for your disposable income than any of its competitors (including those from the Pacific Rim).

To close, yes I think Audi A5 is going to be a worthy competitor in the Coupe market.

Nah. Kind of like the mustang in that it's been a best-seller for so long that it'll take something that's been around just as long to de-throne it.
