Are landlords required to have clean paint on apartment walls? I am renting an apartment and it only has a single coat of primer on it (you can actually see the drywall through it in spots and the job was not done very well--drips, on cabinets, etc.). I don't have a problem painting it myself, but would I lose my deposit? My landlords are out of the country on vacation and I want to paint while I'm off work for the next week. What do you think?

You shouldn't have any problems as long as you paint the walls the same color that they already are...most likely, basic white. Take pictures of the walls before and after you paint and keep the receipts from buying painting supplies. This should prevent any problems in the future. Good luck!

i'm afraid your ineffective meat sweetheart. this is what a deposit is for. you ought to have wiped sparkling the place of residing, made an attempt to patch the nail holes and, a minimum of tried to take it sluggish to used furnituree polish to place over the scratches on the floor or, use something like carpets to pull your furnitur on. I transformed those instruments like this for over two decades. this is approximately spectacular. to circulate in and repaint the whole unit and refinish the scratches. sparkling the placement and make it seem good. You took great element with reference to the owner and, now assume him to take the overcharge and make the placement seem good for the subsequent tenant. i don't be attentive to what the regulations are there yet, the place I come from, If the tenant have been in the unit for extra then six weeks the whole unit ought to have the carpets steamed, the partitions painted and the unit must be transformed like new. you will no longer win in courtroom, you left the owner with a multitude.

As long as they can paint over it easily when you leave it should not be a problem. Opt for white, cream or beige. If you are really worried about it, and don't want to risk it call them or whoever they have handling their affairs while they are gone. There should be someone that they left in charge of their properties while they are gone in case of emergencies.
