only the last person gave some sort of explanation
here is mine:
What is our daily routine?
7 am -- get up from bed
8 am to 5 pm at work/school
evening at home, most of the days
11 pm -- going to bed
When do we most consume electricity at home?
one hour in the morning, 7 to 8
and 5 hours in the evening, 6 to 11
Anyway we can use electricity between 7 and 11 in form of lights and other appliances.
We have not mention the daylight during the year -- winter days are shorter than summer days. And this effect is more pronounced at north states than south ones
As a Northerner(Canada) I know that winter daylight is between 8am and 5 pm. So whether we going to shift our daily routine 1 hour ahead or not, this will NOT change out lights consumption.
However, during the summer time the daylight is between 5am to 8 pm. Now if we shift our daily routine one hour ahead, we are going to save 1 hour of evening light consumption since we are going to bed 1 hour earlier. That is it.

Daylight savings time (DST) had very little to do with farmers. It was begun during WWII for the purpose of saving energy for the war effort. The idea was that if people had more daylight in the evening they would use less electricity for lighting before they went to bed. It never seemed to occur to them that they would also have less daylight in the morning. There have been no studies which have shown that any overall energy savings has ever occurred due to daylight savings time.
One reason it has been continued is because a government
just hates to admit that it has been wrong for so long and will continue a foolish policy until forced by powers beyond its control to stop it. Another reason is money and votes. The commercial business lobies realize that people will shop in their stores longer if the days are longer so they pressure and bribe the state politicians to continue the needlessly disrupting policy. The adoption of daylight savings time is a state-by -state option. Arizona does not have DST.

imagine the earth with the north pole pointing up and the south pole pointing down. Now when the earth spins around the sun, it take 365.25 days, which explains the extra day every four years which is known as a leap year.
When the sun is rotation around the sun, it spinning in circles right to left, like a basketball spinning on someone's finger tip. this explains night and nay. however, the earth is also "tipping" forwards and backwards. During spring and fall, the sun hits the earth at about the equator. However, when the earth "tips" forward, the northern hemisphere (upper half) gets more sun, which is summer for the northern hemisphere. because the sun is hitting the northern hemisphere most directly, the temperature is warm and the hours of daylight are longer.
While the earth is "tipping" forward and the northern hemisphere is getting more sun, the southern hemisphere (bottom half) is getting less sun, resulting in colder temperatures and less hours of daylight.
the earth also "tips" backward, causing the opposite effect, so that the southern hemisphere (bottom half) get more sun and the northern hemisphere(top half) gets less.
because the hours of daylight are short in the winter and longer in the summer, we need to "change" time to adjust to the different hours of daylight that we get. so for our convince, we have daylight savings time, in order to "save daylight."
i hope that makes sense and helps!

Apollon gave the best explanation. It has little to do with astronomy or geography and more to do with human lifestyle. The key is to be asleep when it's dark, and awake when the sun is up, therefore cutting down on light energy. One way to do this is for everyone to change their sleeping times so they go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. This is something most wouldn't want to do.
Example: typical summer day in northern U.S is 16 hours long. If this is 4 am to 8 pm and you get up at 7, that's three hours of morning sun "wasted". If you go to bed at 10 pm, that's two hours of artificial lighting required.
Now shift your clock forward so the sun rises at 5 am and sets at 9. You only need one hour of lighting in the evening now.
Of course, it is assumed that everyone will shift their body clocks to the new time! Otherwise, it won't do any good.

ok i think i will help you further. in the beginning demons are genuine and that they'll attack you in the event that they might they do no longer in straight forward terms attack unbelievers yet in addition believers, quite some the time that's believers interior the desire that others will reject the concept God ought to love us if he "enables" this to take place. we have faith the spirit of God is interior us regardless of the undeniable fact that we nevertheless are open to religious assaults from demonic forces, yet besides the certainty that God can no longer come down till the final day he can grant those human beings help by way of many distinctive techniques. in the beginning God might help that individual by making use of giving a clergyman the capacity to accomplish Exorcisms and banish the demon from the physique. The bible says Matthew 10 28 "do no longer worry people who kill the physique yet can't kill the soul. rather, be afraid of the single that could harm the two soul and physique in hell" we are advised that besides the certainty that our physique may be destroyed our soul is in gods palms. human beings have been demonically possessed and have been exorcised and saved, Exorcisms are accomplished interior the call of Jesus Christ. God is with us and could help us yet we do might desire to help ourselves now and back

The logic is to simply give extra daylight in the evening this time of year, so people can enjoy the weather more. Initially, it was created for farmers, to make crop-harvesting season easier, allowing them to harvest longer into the evenings, I believe.
I hope this helps. :)
