I would go with Reyes. Here's why:

(1) Jose Reyes is a 5x5 player. This means that (in a roto league) he will give you scoring in the 5 key categories: BA, R, HR, RBI, and SB. Moreover, he does all this playing the SS position. There are very few middle-infiielders that will give you good offenseive stats - let alone ALL of them.

(2) Although Santana is an excellent SP, there will still be lots of good SPs available in subsequent rounds. However, you need to remember that the numbers you get from a SP depend on (a) when he pitches, which isn't everyday. and (b) his matchup. You'll get morel mileage for your buck from Reyes

Depends on your scoring, but yes. Reyes covers all stat categories and is huge on steals (with over 60 last season). Pitchers come and go. Santana had a good season last year and will probably have one this year. Yet, there are some many pitchers (at least 5 a team) compared to just one starting shortstop per team. Get Reyes first and then look for pitchers. (or trade for Santana if you want him as well)

This is a very difficult question to answer. I am a position over pitcher draft man myself. Santana would be very hard to pass up...but Reyes gets the nod here. Reyes covers so many categories in fantasy ball. I think you would be just fine picking lower ranked pitchers and selecting Reyes. Plus, while Reyes is scoring runs and stealing bases every night, you will have to wait out all of Santana's starts. It would drive you insane in the long run. Long story short.........REYES!!!!

Go with Reyes. SS is a pretty hard position to fill first off, and there are PLENTY of pitchers out there. I typically don't take starters before the 6th round. There are always good pitchers left until way into the 10th round. Don't get me wrong, Santana is great, but I think you're better off going with Reyes because all of the good offensive players are taken way early in drafts.

Good question. Although I would probably pick Reyes cause he just keeps getting better, Santana and Chris Carpenter are the only 2 top tier pitchers and if you took Santana you could still pick up Jeter, Tejeda or Ramirez later on down the line. Like I said though...Reyes had an unbelievable year and this one could be even better...believe the hype!!!!

reyes, Santana is the best SP right now. But u can get wins from other pitchers in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Reyes hits homers(19) and steal bases(53) and score lots of runs. Not many SS can do that. And the ones that can? will not be there by 2nd or 3rd rounds

Depends on your league scoring and the team strategy that you want to apply. If you are in a 5x5, then probably Johan, but if you are in a league with extra categories like hits, obp, ops, etc. then Reyes. Formulate a strategy that best suits the league rules, that is the best advice anyone can give you.

this is an easy question. draft reyes without thinking. santana is the best SP, but pitchers are so easy to get. there are SOOOOOOO many of them. SS are very hard to come by and reyes is easily the best. the elite SS are reyes, jeter, tejada, rollins, young, ramirez and thats basically it. and i bet there are more than 6 teams in your league.
