Carolus Linnaeus in 1753. I remembered the name but had to look up the year.

The first person to classify plants and animals into various groups was Aristotle in the times of the Ancient Greeks, he might have had some influence from his teacher Plato. Nevertheless, Linneus is the person who is credited officially for proposing taxonomy. I'm afraid I don't know his first name, i think it is Charles, or what the year is, I don't even this his last name there is the correct spelling.
