Divorce courts throughout the world tend to award custody to the mother unless she is ruled unfit or plain out refuses to accept, whether she works or not. Thats where spousal and child support comes into play. Usual causes for unfit are child,or drug/mental abuses charges backed by police or medical records. Hearsay doesnt work here.. The one paying support usually gets the states mandated visitation rights in return. Most places now have support collection agencies that will garnish the payments out of paychecks or tax returns to satisfy the court order and are worldwide so theres no hiding anywhere anymore.

In my experience it is usually the mother unless she is found unfit by the courts. If found unfit then the father gets custody. As long as a child is provided for and there is enough money to pay the bills and take care of the child then it doesn't matter how much people make. Courts look for a stable, clean, responsible condition. I hope this helps.

The person who is the best parent should get the children. A stable job is nice, but without patience, love and understanding, it means little.
Kids have certain needs that must be met regardless of the amount of money in a household.

The court decides on what is in the best interest of the children.

The one who can best care for them. Both have to support them so that shouldn't come into play.
