My generation is the last of not having to go college. We were the ones what my friend & I refer to as " drones ", like working ants. It was us that learned to live with low expections in life. So we were your waitress, ditch diggers, very hard physical laborers. Alot of us knew we had made the wrong decision of not going to college at our 1st. class reunion. But, a lot of us by then were unable to then go back to school. By then we had bought our small houses, had 1 or 2 kids, & were to busy working. We had no time, nor the funds to get a higher education. By the time the kids were old enough to become " latch key " children, we were working 2 jobs. A lot got divorced & your never are able to get ahead. Mabe when you turn 40 & are getting every grant possible for your kids to go to college. So you don't have to continue to worry that your kids won't end up like you. Some were able to go back & get their education while balancing kids, jobs & school. My hat is off to them. You can't even be a waitress any more unless you have the ability to use their computers. This is WHY you have to go to college... start filling out for grants NOW !

In today's job market, if you want to work anywhere besides places like Walmart and McDonalds you pretty much have to go to college... You can't get far without a college degree, go tech if you don't want the normal college setting or if you want a shorter amount of time

WHY NOT GO TO COLLEGE! It will help you a lot when you are older and get a better job. And if you are over say,22-24 and don't have the time try on-line classes! I'm planning to go to Yale.

a degree is usually required for most entry level jobs nowadays, employers want to know they're hiring someone who was disciplined enough to put themselves through college. A BA/BFA is the new high school diploma it seems.

Because that piece of onion-skin will open many doors that might be otherwise closed to you. There are many companies that require a degree for specific jobs, whether or not you could do that job without one.
