The Normans, short for Norsemen, raided the north coast of the Holy Roman Empire, built by Charlemagne. They were such a persistent bunch that in 911 Charles the Fat invited Hrolf Ganger to settle in "Normandy" as a buffer. He became Duke Rollo of Normandy. Seven dukes later, William the Bastard conquered England in 1066. Norman families eventually ruled all of Europe.
Why??? Money and power, same as always!

What county?

do you where did the Normans come from? They were Vikings that settled into northern France and then moved into England under William the Conqueror.

Their purpose in conquering was to expound their trade and control much of the continent of europe.
