I was starting to explore some of my options about going to college. Ive loved Ohio State my whole life, and was wondering if anyone whos been there or knows about the school can give me any info on it. Like what the city and campus is like, is it a great environment, and above all, is the education good. I am not sure what I want to study, but this is the school Ive wanted to go to my whole life and I was just looking for some outside opinions on the school.

I'm sure your familiar with the various strong points of the school from websites and pamphlets (academics, large environment, beautiful campus, etc). They are all true.

Though, despite its' strong academic rankings, I would consider it a party school. Perhaps not suprisingly, drinking is pervasive on the campus. Also, the school is a sports fans' paradise with so many big football games. Though, if you're not a sports fan (I'm not) the crowds and noise can be annoying.

The city of Columbus has its' good and its' bad. High Street is sort of the main road through Columbus. It offers a variety of low cost (ie cheap) shopping and dining, along with an assortment of vagrants.

Overall, if you're a sports fan and like to/dont mind a lot of drinking and partying, but still want to attend a decent college, then you'll love the school.

They have some really top notch programs at Ohio State if thats what you're looking for. As it is such a large college there are so many choices, so even though you don't know what you want to do right now you should have no problem finding a program that fits your interests. That being said Ohio State is a big time party school, if you are distracted in that kind of environment you may want to think twice about going to such a school. The city of Columbus is largely a college town, but has been growing in recent years and many people from Cleveland (where I lived and went to school) are heading there after college for jobs because of the economic growth and lower cost of living.
