I hav a guy friend who mentioned that one of my friends looks "dead" when she does not wear makeup. I thought that was a bit harsh- I thought guys hate makeup! I wear a tiny bit- only a natural eyeshadow and sum mascara- I don't like when it looks overdone- but I was jw- what are your opinions?

I don't think that anyone is "that bad" without makeup. The more natural the better. People that way over-do their makeup can look quite different and rather pale without it. It does not mean they look bad it just means nobody is used to seeing them that way. I think it is best when people wear it light. This way it is not such a big deal if they choose not to put it on sometimes. At the same time, I think many of us do look somewhat better if we are wearing at least a little bit. Truth is, I think we can thank this to our wonderful diet and sun exposure habits. I know someone who eats super healthy (eats lots of organic foods, lots of fruits and veggies, and does not eat much refined sugars and other processed food). She also does not spend time baking her skin in the sun. Her complexion is really, really nice and she honestly looks great without makeup. Unfortunately, most of us don't eat that good and we spend way too much time in the sun. Both of these cause issues with uneven skin tone, breakouts, etc... Course even if this is not the issue... Lack of sleep may be causing one to not look so great. For us mommys with babies who like to keep us up at all hours of the night (yes, I speak form experience) a little makeup can help hide the baggy eyed, haggard look. To sum it up, whether it be from bad diet, too much sun, lack of sleep, or... Many of us could use a little makeup to cover up "imperfections" and/or brighten up our complexion. Just don't overdo it... Then it is not such an issue and no one should really notice either way.

A lot of people will look "dead" without makeup. This is either because:
1. They have been using it so long that people don't know what they look like without it.
or
2. (very common) with some sorts of makeup (especially foundation) it will strip the natural oils from your face over time, so your skin will not look as healthy when you have no makeup on.

I think if you wear makeup everyday you'll have to expect a comment like that because everyone's just used to you wearing makeup. So of course, it'd be a shock to see you not wear makeup. A natural look is always a plus but I prefer not to wear any makeup at all so that everyone's used to me like this and I won't have to worry about it every morning.

I don't like wearing much makeup either. The reason that most women look bad with makeup is because they're going 'over the hill' if you know what I mean and at that time, they get wrinkles. I'll be completely honest, I don't believe you or your friend would look bad without makeup.

i think that wearing makeup for a duration of time makes you look worse naturally. it's bad for your skin etc... some people just don't look great without makeup. take pamela anderson for instance. have you ever seen that without makeup? plus, we're used to seeing people with makeup all the time. it kind of raises the bar all around, i think. i don't think guys hate makeup. i think guys hate the time and trouble we go through, i think guys wish we looked as good without makeup, i think guys hate waiting in the car when you're trying to go somewhere while you put the finishing touches on your lipstick.

I NEED make-up because of break-outs and uneven skin tone. I would scare the crap out of people if I didn't wear it. There is such a thing as natural beauty though, and if you don't need it, don't wear it. That guy friend of yours is pretty harsh!

Less is more! If I wanted to date a clown, I'd be getting a listing of where the nearest circus is. Some ladies wear way too much, where they don't even look real...the less they wear to make them happy the better.

it depends. some girls look good without makeup or natural looking makeup will others NEED it!!! sorry to be mean! guys dont like when girls who dont need it wear too much!

that was a bit harsh. but some girls do need makeup like i dont look that good without it and some girls dont need makeup.
