My pick, Anaheim Ducks!

Mid-season I said it would be Ducks/Sabres in the Finals with the Sabres taking it in 7. While this is still a realistic pick, I'm going to change up my stance.

While the Ducks do have a lot of depth on their team, I think the Western Conference will be represented by the Minnesota Wild. Headed by Jacques Lemaire with veterans like Brian Rolston and Wes Walz, along with young stars like Marion Gaborik and Mikko Koivu, the Wild will be somewhat of a dark horse in the West. They also have a set of 3 outstanding goaltenders. Rookie Niklas Backstrom has been putting togther quite the campaign this season with a 15-8-5 record, a 2.22 gaa average, and a .923 save percentage. He is accompanied by Manny Fernandez (22-16-1, 2.55gaa, .911sv%) and Josh Harding (2-0-1, 0.66gaa, .978sv%). With just the right mix of experience and talent, I think this team has what it takes to push its way to the finals.

The Eastern Conference will be represented by none other than Lemaire's old team the New Jersey Devils. Headed by Martin Brodeur and bolstered with all sorts of talent young and old (Parise, Madden, Gomez, Elias, etc.), the Devils will be rolling into this playoffs hot. With Brodeur, you know you've always got consistency. This season is no different from any other with a 41-8-7 record, 2.14 gaa, and a .924 save % no one, and I mean no one is going to want to have to face him in the playoffs.

This should be an interesting Finals match-up and I will have to give the nod to the Devils in 7. The Wild have a lot of talent on that team just waiting to prove themselves, but right now the Devils are a little too much. Martin Brodeur will take home the Conn Smyth as playoff MVP.

Anaheim Ducks
1) they broke a new record this year
2) they have superstars like Teammu Selanne, Ilya Bryzgalov, Jean-Sebastine giguere, and Chris Pronger
3) 2003-04 playoffs ducks swept #1 Detroit and #2 Dallas
4) Giguere got the conn smythe for the losing team, one of only 4/5 goaltenders in NHL history to do so.

After seeing Anaheim take it to the Canucks yesterday, I would say the Ducks too. They are such a tough team with good offence.

Wild thing...you make my heart sing.......thats right the minnesota Wild have gaborik and demitra lighting it up everytime there on the ice, they have the crafty Jaque Lemire behind the bench along with the hungiest group of role players in the NHL. Look at the month so of the season and that will tell you who the best team is and it comes out to be the Wild

I would say Buffalo has a pretty good shot. I like the Devils but I think they lack a few key components this year. Maybe Nashville might be good enough if certain team who give them trouble get eliminated first.
