My sister and I were talking and in my family the boys were not treated as sctrictly as the girls. Do you think that there is a double standard? The reason I ask this is when I lived at home and went away with my fiance I was required to be chaparoned, yet the boys in my familywould go away with thier girlfriends, and little or nothing was said. I also told my sister and excuse me if this sounds a bit crass but the organ you are born with sex wise will determine the treatment that you will receive from your parents. Do you feel this is true?

I think that proves to be true in many cultures and societies.I believe this is because males are thought to be the stronger sex(physically) and so they can protect themselves, but females are vulnerable and parents tend to be protective over them....i guess thats where the whole thing comes from.

well if your talking about strictness on dates, it is probably because the girls are the ones that would get pregnant if one thing led to another. But about doing chores, that is just unfair. I think their reasoning though is that the woman has to prepare to be a mother, in charge of the house. yes, it sucks doesn't it?
