this will be my 1st time trying out for any sport and i'm a freshman in high school..... im 5'5 and i now weigh 180 lbs(i know :( )what and how can i loose weight and what do i need to know that could help me have a great chance at making the team

Tumbling classes. It should help you 1) make the team
(the back handsprings and round offs cart wheels and so on) 2) Help you loose weight.

get a membership at the gym; thats what i did and in pretty fit right now but if you cant afford it, just go outside and run.
