Hello!
I have finally joined prosper.com. What do you think of it? I have listed one. Go and look at it, tell me what you think and donate! My dad died last Christmas and helping my mom with the bills has put a dent in our financial situation!

It would be nice if you put in your $50 as well! Thanks!

I'm a lender on Prosper, and there are 2 things in your question that cause me to lose interest in your listing before I've even looked at it:

1. You asked people to "donate". Prosper loans are NOT donations. They are real loans from real people who are trusting you by investing in you and expect to be paid back. Referring to them as donations implies to a potential lender that you don't intend to pay it back. That is dishonest and will also mess up your credit record since Prosper reports late payments and defaults to the credit & collection agencies.

2. You don't know what your Prosper user ID is. This makes it look like you're disorganized or forgetful which can scare off lenders ("If they can't remember their user id, how will they remember to make their payments?").

Please take this as constructive criticism. Remember that even though Prosper isn't a traditional bank and it's regular people funding your loan, you still need to present yourself well and make sure to pay the money back.

If your Prosper ID is mom_student_23 then your listing should have a chance. Your record is clean, amount & rate are reasonable. DTI is high so you should explain how you're going to pay the loan. Don't worry if you don't get bids for a few days, that's normal. People like to jump on at the last minute.

I've provided you a link in the Sources section to a thread on the Prosper forums that lists a lot of tips from lenders and borrowers. Please read it. Also ask your group leader for advice. If funded, you're going to be paying him/her an additional 1/2% in interest so make sure he/she earns it.

Best wishes for you and your mom.
