Myspace really isn't all that safe. Maybe you should tell your mom that you just want to keep in touch with your friends and you will give her your password so she can log into your account as well whenever she wants to check up on it. Sorry to say it, but as long as you are a minor, you have to live by your parents' rules and give up a little of your privacy. She is only trying to protect you because she is old enough to know what kind of people are on the Internet.

Basically I've had one since I was 10 and I am 14 now and nothing has ever happened to me. Everyone says myspace is unsafe but if you take the right safety measures it really isn't. You just need to do simple things like giving your mother the password to your myspace or having her create one so that she can keep an eye on yours. Make a compromise with her.

Honey, there's something called a cellphone or a house phone. I suggest looking into it. Just joking, of course... =]
Honestly, myspace isn't the best form of "communication" with your friends from other high schools or with anyone for that matter. And if you do not know it already, you can talk to your friends instantly on the phone and you do not expose yourself to sexual predators who are more likely to catch your attention one way or another. Trust me, these creeps can still be smarter than expected and that is what makes them dangerous.
Like someone already said, you are not missing anything. Forget about it and ask your mother for a cellphone instead.

Well I know how you feel. My mom resentaly deleted my myspace. I was very mad. There are good thinds and bad. A good thing is you can chat with ur friends and everything. Bad is there are sexually minded ppl that want you. You need to tell your mom about the "Private account." This may change her mind and feel more comfty with you being on myspace and staying safe. Or you may convince her by showing her arround myspace. :)

well first of all how old are you first cause if your like fourteen or something like that what doyou really need a myspace for? it's not like your really gonna go drinking with your buddies or even drive to like parties out of your area or anything...... your mom is probably over protective which does suck but just look at it like if you obey her wishes then it just shortens the time that you have to go without one.... if you get one and she catches you then it will be along time til she trusts you again... which will eventually carry on to when you are old enough to actually go out......

Well myspace isn't all its cracked up to be. Its lame. Most people post fake things about themselves, and it ruins reputations, and social status. You should listen to your mom. Your friends who go to different highschools you can talk to on the tele, through email, letters, and if your mom allows aim. Seriously you dont need to be on myspace it really is as damaging as they say it is

The only way you should be allowed to get an account is if your Mom has the password and can go into your account anytime she wants and read all of your postings. My Space is dangerous!! So if you give away all your rights to privacy, you might be able to convince her.
