You don't. Just tell her mommy is hoping for one too. Anything else is just too much information for a 4 year old.

you don't need to discuss this with the 4 years old
what you need to do is for you & your husband to go see your doc and run some test to see the reason why you are unable to get pregnant
for now you can tell your child that it will take some time
to give her a bro or sis tell her that you only have time for her
and you are waiting when she gets older so she can help you
***make up a story*** because if you tell her that you may not be able too she will have more ?s
Good Luck

I think things happen all in time. So don't give up, I have been trying to conceive for about 3 years now and i also have a 4 year old little boy. And i told him when god wants to bless are family again he will give us another baby, and i tell him to prey for us to have another baby, I know in my heart that i will have another baby but, it will be in his timing. Good luck and i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Tell her the truth. Tell her that she is the world to you anyway and all the good things about being an only child. Lots of kids wish they didnt have to share EVERYTHING with a bro or sis.

I was 3 and my mom explained it to me, she told me the truth then...and at ge 3 I actually understood, and still remember a little bit...she miscarried for twins, and was at the hospital, and they told me what happend...when I was 11 she got pregnant twice and had miscarriages both times too... she explained it to me then also-which by then I had a better perspective.

You never should have told her you were trying! What a mean thing to do, since kids don't understand.
Tell her that God is in charge of babies, and if he feels your family needs another one, he'll send it.
