I know that it could be the head gasket. I put a some fluid in the radiator and drove it home from work which is about 30 miles on the freeway. I got home and there is not much fluid in the radiator again. Is it ok to let the car sit over night or a few nights in the cold with not much fluid in the radiator and a little water in the engine block before I can get it to a mechanic.

then, could I drive it into a mechanic that is about 25 miles from my house. or should I have it towed in.

Don't drive it anymore! You probably have a cracked head & blown head gasket, maybe even a cracked block.

i own a repair shop ,and it probably has blown the head gasket on it,maybe even got the head on it,id have it towed from where it is to a mechanic because anti freeze doesn't mix well with oil at all,and it will crystallize the crank shaft in it,and ruin it ,once this happens you might as well junk that engine, and get another one for it,but id say it got the head gasket at the very least, cross your fingers and hope the head is worth saving on it,good luck i hope this helps.

Don't even drive the car unless you want to replace a motor too, in fact driving as far as you did the motor might have problems with the water washing down the cylinder walls and causing ring and piston damage, get a tow truck to take it to the mechanic.

NO.......DO NOT DRIVE IT!!!! You've blown the head gskt....probably cracked or at least warped the cyl. head and with water in the oil, chances are you may have ruined the crankshaft bearings. I wouldn't even attempt to start that engine again without first having a mechanic check it out.

ps: start digging real deep into your wallet, 'cause this job is gonna really cost the "big bucks". sorry, would you rather I lied to you?

You need to tow it so you won,t wipe out the bearings. its okay to sit as long as you don't start it up. The coolant will mess up the main bearings so tow it to the shop. If you are lucky its just the headgasket and not the head itself.

TOW IT OR YOU COULD CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE, THE WATER IN THE OIL CAN RUIN THE BEARINGS, PLUS YOU DONT WANT TO HEAT IT UP ANYMORE THAN YOU HAVE

tow it! you may have warped the heads... might have done enough damage to it already... do not drive it any distance... only make it worse...water in the oil is baad!
