I don't mean to sound rude, but a snake might not be a good thing to buy as a gift. Any pet really can be a bad idea to give as a gift. The person will have to be responsible for caring for it correctly....what if they don't want to/know how to?

Anyhow if you are certain it is a good idea, I'm not certain I would purchase one online either, it could be unhealthy (you won't see it before arrival) and it will have to undergo the stress of being shipped through the mail/UPS some animals die before delivery.......

If your friend expressed a want for a snake and that is what you have your mind set on. I have not heard of any problems from kingsnake.com. but if you do get them a snake get all the trimmings with it. a cage a heat lamp etc. owning a pet is not all glamor it can be frustrating and expensive. make sure your friend has the money and time to put into an exotic pet such as a python. if its for your significant other you probably already know if you can meat the requirements. you can reasonably expect it to live for 20 to 40 years depending on the type of python so be prepared for how long it will be around.

it is a very bad idea to buy someone a pet for their birthday. Do they have the rest of the supplies that go with a snake already?

Go to kingsnake.com They have a lot of breeders listed on that. You never said what type of python you want. Some get very big and make sure your friend has enough room for a large snake, as well as finances to feed a large snake.

I have ordered many reptiles on line and had no problems.

Go to kingsnake.com they have a classifieds section.

Depending what kind of sanke you want you can find a reliable breeder.

Don't listen to these people who pump up the pet stores. Most have no clue about the reptiles they are selling.

If it is the persons first snake, get a corn sanke. Google up a lady called Kathy Love, she is the queen of corns and you cannot go wrong.

I dont think online is a good idea.
Try a liscend pet store like petco or petsmart. Ask the employees for what you need and make sure to pick up a book or two on how to care for it.

it's a bad idea in general to get any pet online...it's best to go to the shop. snakes are especially bad to do this with.

you want to go to a shop, handle teh specimin you wish to buy, watch it feed to ensure it can do so with no problems, and ask the store personel for any problems this snake may have had in the past...

a friendly tip, if a store associate tries to get you to ahndle a snake that is shedding it's skin...leave immediately...snakes can't see when they shed, so they become hyper agressive... if someone is trying to get you to hold a snake in it's shed cycle, they don't know what they are doing.....

I saw a kid get bit ont eh hand because someone let them handle a snake in it's shed.

Give the person the cash and let them pick out their own pet.
