here's what is said for Monte Carlos in general for 1986
Monte Carlo, series 1G, V6/V8
Monte was moderately restyled for1986 and a new LS model joined the base and SS coupes after the start of the model year.
Standard Modle Montes kept their 1985 styled grilles and quad headlamps, but the LS was different. An Aerodynamic LS front end held wide flush mount composite headlamps and a wide look finely crosshatched grille with 11 vertical dividers and distinctive center crest emblem. Parking lamps (also wide) sat below the bumper rub strips.
Engine identification was on theforward end of the front fender.. The LS had wide and bright body side mouldings, semi wrap around taillamps and restyled standard wheels.
All Montes got new aerodynamic sport mirrors (black on base models, body color optional)
Sport and LS models got new wheelcovers. Retuened front suspensions used harder bushings and stiffer shock valving (different shocks)
Inside was a new color keyed two spoke steering wheel.
P205/70R14 tires with improved rolling resistance were optional on the Sport Coupe.
Delco 2000 Series digitally tuned radio were an option. Also optional : a tachometer, and passenger vanity mirror in the visor (plain or illuminated (with lights)
Monte Carlo SS had new aluminum wheels, plus gas pressure shock absorbers (front and rear)
Enginee choices were the same as 1985:
262 cu in 4.3 litre V6 or 305 cu in (5.0 litre)V8 with a high output 180 horsepower 305 under the hood of SS models
All models had standard power brakes and steering three speed overdrive automatic (4 speed overdrive for SS models)
Am radio with digital clockcloth bench seats, black dual racing mirrorsdual note horn, full wheel covers...colcr keyed bumpers and front stabilizer bar
Bodies had bright wheel well opening, belt, window/winshield reveal, lower body side and roofdrip mouldings
Monte Carlo SS had a rear spoiler, black sport steering wheel, tachometer, black grille, and mouldings, sport mirrors (left remote controlled), gaugeackage, and P215/65R15 white letter tires. Rarest of the SS Monte's are the striking Aerocoupe fastback onky 200 were built a mere fraction of Monte Carlo out put for 1986
BTW 1986 wasn't the last year of production for the Monte Carlo, 1987 was... 79,822 were produce of combined prodution of the SS and LS models (individual model break down wasn't available for 87.... Aerocoupes reached a total of 6,052 were made for 1987
