I have a confession. I am a certified, bonified, pack rat in recovery. I get my pedigree from both sides of the family.

Thank God that He gave me a wife that isn't. She struggled and struggled. Then we moved to Brazil as missionaries. Talk about a purge. We took what we could take with us on the plane, except for some photos and books that I left in storage with friends and family. It was a major purge. And I felt so much freedom in that, so much lighter that I have never looked back.

Do I still fight the temptations? Yes, of course. But then my wife is always there to lend a helping hand and a very large trash bag :-)

Oh man a livin' I was so overwhelmed with junk I couldn't believe it. I would see some cute, old thing that maybe my kids could sell some day and it would be worth a fortune. I got cured one day as I was standing in Goodwill and realized I was getting the old stuff from there and it was probably there because someone passed and their kids couldn't wait to get rid of the junk lol. I decided for my kids sake to dejunk my house so my junk would not be their burden. My only problem now is I have 4 or 5 trunks of photos and papers. Once that is sorted I am gonna be soooo very happy and relieved. Having too much stuff is like having an elephant on your back. If you have not used something in 6 months...get rid of it. Make three piles. One for tossing, one for give-away and one you keep. I hope you get a handle on it. Mmm

i have been through that once. being an avid yardsale flea mkt person i have learned how to control my impulses and only get what i need and not have duplicates. a good cure is to join the yahoo freecycle group near u and give it away.
