It is possible for some cars. Search google for "Project R14".
Its a Nissan 1995 240sx Zenki with an AWD drive train from an Nissan Skyline R32. The Nissan 240sx is a front engine rear wheel drive car, and certain 1992 Skylines are AWD. Google up your cars and mention AWD(All Wheel Drive). Good luck on your project though.

P.S. whats your car?

only a Rwd car, bolt on a tranfer case from a truck, get a front axle from the same kind of truck, the hard part is getting the axle mounted, you usually need to weld on leaf spring hangers and put on some leaf springs, then you need a new steering system that will work with it.

it can be done. but why would you want a trar anway

In theory you could, but you have to change everything from the drive train to the handling and suspension, and you'd have to design it so you didn't get killed driving it.

Better to just buy a used one.

anything is possible but in reality forget about it. Trade it in for the 4WD.
