I am due to deliver my first child tomorrow and I am 30. My mother had her last child at 35. Her mother had her last child at 42. Her grandmother had her last child at 46. Age increases the risks of some complications, but if you are in good health, there should be no problems. Plus, with an 18 and 13 year old, you have free babysitters. This baby will also have the benefits of your years of experience. I say go for it.

I'll be 36 in May and I'm 38 weeks pregnant. My oldest is almost 15. So no of course I don't think it's "too old". But it depends upon your personal situation...I find i have much more patience with the younger ones now than I did when I was 24 and had just 2...I'm realizing that this is going to be my last baby (having a tubal) and it's so bittersweet I love my babies so much and am REALLY taking the time to enjoy them now...

Definitely not! At 30, I am the youngest mother in my mother's group by 5 to 14 years! I guess what seems normal depends on where you live, but here in the SF Bay Area, the average FIRST-TIME mom age must be close to 35. Congratulations:)

No, it is by far not to old. I have a 13 and 15 year old and i am 39 weeks pregnant with my third. i am 33 and so far i have had no complications and hopefully I won't. i understand your concern and I know that it is a little freaky to go so many years and then pop up pregnant but you are not too old. if 35 was too old then women would have menopause at 30....nature knows best. this is a blessing for you, as all children are a blessing from God. good luck.

I was 36 when I had my middle child..my oldest was 11. I was 36 when I had my youngest child too. So I don't believe it is. Just have all the tests, do what the doctor says, and you'll be fine. I'm mom to 3.

I don't think its too old, afterall, how old IS TOO old? It is important for you to understand that risk of Downs Syndrome and other birth defects are more likely to occur in women who get pregnant after the age of 35. Just be healthy, exercise, and pray for the best. A child is a blessing, enjoy it and realize, not everyone gets that blessing. God Bless and Good Luck!

Wow! What a life change!

My aunts had babies at 42 and 43, so you're not too old. You might find that parenting is more fun this time around - you had your oldest really young. That must have been stressful.

Congratulations!

I am expecting my first child and will be 39 when she is born. I have had no complications, and amniocentesis shows she is normal and healthy. Women over 35 may have slightly higher risks than women under 35, but they are still small and most of us will have perfectly normal pregnancies and children.

No that is not too old.
Your chances of twins increase at that age and the doctors will want to do additional tests as the chance of downs syndrome is also increase.
But all kinds of womens in their 30's and 40's are having children
