If a witness is subpoenaed and does not show testify, the witness is in contempt of court. The presiding judge can issue a bench warrant, where the witness is arrested and brought to court. Other jail time can also be assessed.

If the witness is the victim (complainant), then the case would result in a mistrial. The perpetrator is released.

You can be subpaoened as a hostile witness (which means you dont want to be there voluntarily) to the crime. Without any witnesses or evidence the accused could walk free. You can choose not to show but then you run the risk of having a bench warrant put out for your arrest for failure to appear depending on the severity of the case. Also if you should ever need the court system yourself someday, this could come back to haunt you. Choice is yours, good luck

If it is a court order, then you could possibly face charges. And if it is to testify against the abuser, the abuser could win, and go on to abuse more and more, until it is too late, and someone really gets hurt.
