My biggest concern taking a commission only job is the uncertainty of income. I have been told the first month is the hardest as that's the training period but the statistics of this company are that 99% of the calls/emails are for wanting to purchase and they need staff because they are unable to efficiently deal with each customer. It's a growing business and was recommended thru a family friend which leads me to believe they wouldn't set me up. I have sales experience and it's not a retail situation, everything is done by phone and internet. The question is do I tough it out and quit after 6 months if there is nothing decent coming in? My partner is a registered nurse so I am not living alone.

I don't like it myself. Just offered a position and just didn't get a good feeling about it. Any sales position with commission based only (I found out three weeks of my training was in Salt Lake City, 500 miles from where I am and I wasn't going to get paid for that while I would be getting licensed.) is a joke. Keep looking for a better job that actually pays you with a regular pay check. They'll tell you anything to get you to work for them. The told me at the beginning of the interview that they were already existing clients I work with. Then by the end she was telling me I needed to sign up 4-5 new clients a week to get the minimum commission payment. It would take another 7mos. before my residuels would catch up so more money would come in regularily. Sorry, not for me. Don't waste your time, even six months, when you could be working another job that actually pays a base salary. Just my humble opinion.
