I borrowed money from a friend and paid it back. We signed a promisory note, but I didn't get receipts when I paid it back. We are extremely good friends .Nothing was wrong until he passed away. His mother found the promisory note and doesn't believe that I paid it back. Can she do anything to me?

She can try to enforce it by suing you. You can present evidence of payments, cancelled checks, witnesses or just your own testimony. The court will decide what happens.

If she is the benificiary of the estate, then she can try. I doubt that she'll get very far since it is your word against a deseased person.
