Basic technique:
a diamond with your index fingertips and thumb.

For a low catch cross your small fingers together - don't make a basket with your arms...ever.

Next: Run your pass routes and know them well...this will help you anticipate the ball.

Usually - before practice, quarterbacks toss the ball to warm up. See if you can stand next to one and catch the ball for him.
Work on looking through your diamond (finger tips and thumbs) and making a good target for the person throwing the ball.

Catch the ball with your hands pull it to your body and tuck it high and tight.

Do this with every catch.

Good luck.

Catching the ball with your hands not body is best. As for improving your hands it helps to improve you finger strength.
You can do this with finger tip push ups. You can also squeeze tennis or rubber ball. Practice throw the ball straight up and catch it. Over and over catching it with you finger. Toss the ball away from your slightly then go and get it. Just some ways to practice when you can't some to throw to you.
Also remember to practice running and making sharp cuts . Practicing you routes are important too.

i agree that a reciever must concentrate on the ball, but there are other factors... knowing the plays and routes is essential. knowing what defense is called is important, too. is the cb going man to man, or is the safety going to cover you after the initial bump by the cb? read the defense and your job is easier. know where you need to be downfield, and be there. don't be afraid to take a hit- thats what pads are for. look the ball into your hands and pull the ball into your body. run simple throwing drills with your buddies in your backyard. practice makes perfect.

Need to work out your hands.

I'm not sure what it's called.. but it increases grip stength, squeeze that and work on your grip to make sure you hands are strong as can be.

Then learn to catch with your hands, not your body. To do that, you can get a passing machine, or the cheap way; use a friend. Have the friend or the machine start throwing. Work on catching getting use to low speeds, then work your way up on speed, power, and distance.

I'm a linebacker and a fullback, used to be a tightend but coach wanted me bull people around. We're planning on throwing a lot more this season, so i have to do all these things myself to make sure i'm up and my hands have the rust shaken off.

Good luck, have fun. :)

Just practice catching, practice pass routes, and go deep. concentrate on the ball, time when you going to catch, and catch with both hands. Just keep practicing and working hard

Try to get use the QB and know his throwing patterns and then he can get to use how he can threw the ball to you so you catch

Get yourself a small medecine ball and toss it to yourself only using your fingers. This will strengthen the 'catching muscles' in your fingers.

You can also simulate pulling in tough catches with the medecine ball. This will strengthen the secondary muscles involved in catching away from the body.

Working on your upper body flexibility will allow you to relax and not tie up.

Javon Walker of the Denver Broncos uses tennis balls. Put some tape over it or something and tape it to ur hand. This will help you catch it with your fingers, not your whole hand or body. When you get good with your fingers, you can rely on just your fingers.

Well don't try to do anything fancy, 9/10 you'll end up dropping it. IF you see the ball coming down in front of you, but your a couple of steps behind, put your hands out in front of you. If your perfectly in position and can see the ball, then go a head andKeep the Ball close so you don't drop it especially when your running and about to be tackled. Bring your hands together and try and scoop the ball to you.

Catch with your hands, not your body. Concentrate only on the ball, use the force!
