Some jerk spilled something on my purse [and didn't admit it] its on the leather part so it stained. Is there a way to clean it, or will it make it worse?

Take it to a Coach store & see if you can send it into their repair dept. for cleaning. The fee is about $20 for warranty work but I'm not sure how much it would be for this.
The other option is to find a local cobbler who also works on leather goods or a dry cleaner that works with leather.
Saddle soap might help, but it also might darken the leather overall so I'm reluctant to recommend it.

Take it to a shoe repair shop and ask them to use some good leather soap.

what you can do is try to get it dry cleaned
