In August I'll be turning 16. I'm a family kinda girl and I'm having about 50 family and friends coming down from NY. The ages will be from 1-70 or so and I need some actvities to just keep the day going. It'll be in my yard(1.5 acres) but I live on a large hill. So far I've gotten my go kart out and running again(I live on a private street) and plan on pulling out the volley ball net and a sprinkler. I need just a few more activities for the day.

(-: Sounds like a lot of people! Does anyone in your family like performing? Maybe you could have people do a mini-talent show, and sing or do skits. That's not for everyone, though.

You can make a bowling game out of soda bottles filled with water and a ball (like your volleyball) for the little ones.

If your hill has grass, you could go cardboard sledding (just sit on a large piece of cardboard and slide down the hill).

If you have clover or dandelions, people could make leis and head wreaths with them.

You could put a bunch of little ducks in a small kiddy-pool, and have different prizes for different ducks (kind of like a carnival game). If you make the prizes something musical (like kazoos or toy drums, etc.) people could use them to sing happy birthday to you.

Whirligigs (windmills?) are easy to make and look great on the lawn as decorations, and kids love them. Bubbles are actually great for all ages.

If the party will go into the evening, have a fire pit or BBQ with open flame, gather around and tell ghost stories.

Oh, don't forget the mosquito repellant, and be sure to have a plan in case it rains.

I have an August birthday, too, and I think it's a great time of year for a party!

Good luck!
