Okay so aerie means 1. the nest of a bird of prey, as an eagle or a hawk. And since the store is called American Eagle it makes perfect sense to name the sleepwear line aerie, since you are sleeping in your "nest" or bed. Make sense? Hope I could help. Peace out.

No Aerie is not a acronym. It is simply a name sounding similar to their original line of clothes (AE) but adds a softer touch, as Aerie is an intimates woman line.

aerie isn't an abbreviation its a subdivision of AE for girls my friend wears it
