SportsIllustrated only show 64 teams on their front-page bracket lineup (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/) ... which seems logical since if you eliminate half in each round: 64 - 32 - 16 - 8 - 4 - 2 - Champion. Why start with 65 ... and where in the schedule does the 65th team fit-in ... who has to play an extra match?

Hey JimH ... go easy. I live in Australia, which makes it difficult to follow NCAA hoops. Even with the web, it's difficult to find out WHY this "play-in" game exists. Thanks for your answer!
