If your printer is scan/copy/print, but specifically does not mention FAX, hopefully you can FAX off your modem. This is what I do.
With my printer/copier/scan/FAX, I was told to ignore FAX settings and not configure it at all if I wanted to FAX from the modem. You cannot have it both ways.
To FAX, I compose whatever then File, Print, and select FAX as the printer. In Windows XP, the FAX is located in the Control Panel, Add/Remove/ Components -- note, Components not Programs. Mine works great.
I have found that if a FAX fails to go through, you should delete it or cancel it from the FAX outbox. If you don't, it will try to send when you turn your computer on, the program will not have been loaded, and your system will freeze.
click on Start, Help, and see if you can find something on FAX, or you might be able to find some help online if you know which modem you have.
