Well, just to clarify, Anime Expo is a certain event not a type of cosplay or something that happens other then the location it happes at.
Anime Expo is the largest anime convention in the United States, taking place in July in southern California. [if you ever got a chance to attend, I'd highly reccomend it's really spectacular with so many events and anime related things and lots of fabulous cosplay]
But here are some conventions that take place in Texas and where you could go to see some cosplay:
