I know they are livebearers, so I got 1 male and 3 females... the male wasn't attacking it or anything.... I didn't see any signs; white spots cuts etc. I clean the aquarium once a week... and junk... what could I do next to to prevent deaths next time?

There isn't a lot you can do. It's just part of having fish sometimes they expire without any reason. It sounds to me like your doing a good job at taking care of them with waterchanges, checking for spots, etc.

The only other thing I would check is test your ph on a regular basis. Also keep an eye on the temperature of the water. You didn't say if you use a heater, etc.

I'm sorry about your fish. It's difficult because you really don't know the true age of the fish etc when you purchase them.

You just got the fish, there is a large death rate with new livebearers, they aren't really kept in the healthiest conditions in stores, as they aren't worth much. It may have had an internal infection you couldn't see. Is your water cycled?

Depends if you water is to acidic or basic. Check the amonia levels, the size of the tank. Did you use soap to clean your water, if you did then there might be some chemical in there. Did her body seem white and worn out, then its amonia poisen. Start a new post with more detail so i can answer.

fairly honestly, each and every now and then they simply die for no reason you are able to ever confirm. No thank you to renowned what killed her, yet as long as you look after the tank remarkable it is going to be uncommon. MM
