I'm overweight, about 250 lbs, and I've never had a child. I'm in my mid-20s. My husband and I recently had sex 4 times during the middle of my monthly cycle without protection. My period is usually regular, but this time it is 12 days late. I took two pregnancy tests, one a couple of days ago and one today, and both said negative. I don't have any pregnancy symptoms, that I know of, but I was wondering if being overweight could affect my not have pregnancy symptoms and/or could cause a false negative pregnancy test.

If anyone has had this experience, or if you are in the medical field and know anything about this, please let me know.

Thanks!

missed period more than likely means your pregnant. Doesn't hurt to get it checked out. Your weight could be a factor into why you won't hve your period because overweight women, under weight women, athletes, and women who are under a lot of stress do miss periods or just stop having them, but if this is just happening and you have been the same weight for a while i wouldn't be so quick to assume it's bcus of your weight. Everyone woman is different but weight usually isn't a factor with not having symptoms. I am thin, didn't have a day of morning sickness or any other symptoms.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I did not have any symptoms either some women just don't have symptoms. As far as the pregnancy test goes it is possible that you are pregnant even if the test was negative. Certain tests require a specific amount of Hcg starting at 20mcg and going up to 40mcg depending on the test. A couple things that can affect your period are stress, dieting, and weight loss.

actually, your weight has a lot to do with being ale to get pregnant. i was recently in the doctor because i am also overweight and my period has being late a couple of weeks, the doctor told me that the more overweight you are the more the hormones act up. meaning the the more u gain it would make your period come late or even not show up. my doctor recommended to loose a little weight and that my period should be back to normal. so relax, eat healthy, exercise and let nature take over.

p.s --i am also going for register nurse) if this helps in trusting what i am saying.

Well, your overweight can cause a lot of things to your health, but in this case i think is not, you should take a BLOOD test, cause the preg. kits are not 100% efficient.

Go to a lab, take the test and make shure of it, and if you are, go to a doctor to take all the advice you can get, cause the overweight can be a problem with a pregnancy, not only for your baby, for you. and most important if you are, start taking folic Acid so your child comes to this world healthy.

Best of luck!

your weight has nothing to do with the test ing whatsoever
pregnancy tests test for the pregnancy hormone hCG ...women only have this hormone when pregnant
I suggest that you retest again in a week, and see what it says
because many things can cause your period to be late.
good luck!
