Yes, fugu is a Japanese dish prepared from the meat of a pufferfish ( normally species of the Takifugu, Lagocephalus, or Sphoeroides) or porcupinefish of the genus Diodon. Fugu is very toxic and ten people die each year of consumption of fugu. Pufferfish contain lethal amounts of the poisen, tetrodotoxin and therefore only specialized chefs are allowed to prepare this dish.

Yes, it is a sushi delicacy in Japan. The chefs who prepare it must train for years, because it contains a poison that can be lethal if ingested. However, it is delicious!
