Emily Dickinson always has a intensity in her poetry and in spite of the undeniable fact that this feels like a throwing 'caution to the wind' or basically being 'loose' i imagine that the poem speaking about having intimate relatives individuals with the single the speaker is thinking about, in spite of the undeniable fact that that's not plausible. If it were plausible no longer some thing might want to quit it (no longer wind)-they could be going into uncharted territory (finished w/ the compass, chart)-and it might want to be superb (rowing in 'paradise').
