if you only need one foot then you could run with one foot inbounds and one out and still dribble the ball as long as you only touch ball when you have the one foot that is inbounds and the other in the air.

You must have both feet established in bounds before ever touching the ball at any time. Even if you step out while running down the court.

You simply need to "establish" yourself inbounds - which means that you need to have atleast one part of your body inbounds and NOT have any part of your body out of bounds. If you were to pass the ball from out of bounds, and take one step in (with one foot) and recieve the ball back, as long as you are not touching any part of yourself or the ball out of bounds then the ball is live and the game is in play. You don't need to have both feet in bounds like in football.

Keep in mind that if you have passed the ball in to play, and you have not "established" yourself as in bounds, then the ball will be considered out of bounds. For example, if you passed the ball in-bounds after a made basket and jumped onto the court, and you recieved the ball back before you land, it is considered out-of-bounds, because the last thing you touched was "out",and you haven't touched anything that is "in". If you had one finger touch "in" as you jumped, you would be considered as "established in-bounds".

I know it may seem confusing, but instead of thinking in terms of what is "in-bounds", basketball is a game where you need to keep in mind what is "out-of-bounds"... as long as none of you is touching out-of-bounds and you establish one part of yourself in-bounds, you're good.

Hope this helps.

You need to come back in with your entire body, including your feet to be able to recieve the ball and still be able to continue doing the play.

2 (or 1 and your back foot in the air) otherwise you're out of bounds.
