The world hasn't adopted hedonism as a way of life. Just certain maladaptive subsets. It may appear as though some forms of hedonism are generally accepted by world, but this new form of marketing is a fad and won't last. Most people are much more modest, moral and mainstream than marketers, the fashion industry, and popular media would have you believe. People in counter culture using hedonism as a way of life were unhappy to begin with and hedonism certainly doesn't relieve their unhappiness. It probably creates new problems for these people.
