Help..my mother and me are argueing as we speak as to what "hooking up"means I think it can me making out or hanging out and then haveing sex or getting together she thinks it just means Having sex period..I hope lots of people answer this to hush her up already.

you are right.

i think that making out, groping, dry-humping, oral sex, and intercourse would all be considered 'hooking up'.

I think you are both right. It can mean just hanging out, but generally it is used towards having sex.

my understanding is that hooking up generally implies sex without commitment or love. kinda like a fling or one night stand.. it could start by hanging out and making out with someone you meet in a club or someone you get set up with by friends.. so you are both right, but it is the stranger and no commitment thing that you missed.

In any of the cases you just described what's the difference because they all involve sex?

it definitely means to fool around and have sex, especially in the context of doing so with a person that you have just met or have a casual relationship with
