Greek born modern famous ( for one reason or another) Greeks are the composers Vangelis and Theodorakis both alive, the Author Kazantzakis translated in 43 languages, Elytis and Seferis Nobel poet laureates and Kavafi another poet. You can throw in there Yiannis if you wish. Negreponte at MIT, and numerous doctors and professors. Of course the Greek shipping tycoons like Onassis, Niarchos, Latsis are famous as well.
There are many more Greeks who are famous in the diaspora but not native born.
