Yes, it was harder for a black man to be much untill recentally. try searching black history or black history occupations, or something broad along those lines
the first black:
patent holder: Thomas L. Jennings, 1821, for a dry-cleaning process. Sarah E. Goode, 1885, became the first African-American woman to receive a patent, for a bed that folded up into a cabinet.
M.D. degree: James McCune Smith, 1837, University of Glasgow; Rebecca Lee Crumpler became the first black woman to receive an M.D. degree. She graduated from the New England Female Medical College in 1864

OR search black history on yahoo.com
Also try asking teachers, parents, looking in a library**recomended**, or looking in your school textbook!!!

Yes. Rent a wonderful movie that tells one story of a black man's struggle to become a doctor: Something God Made. Mose Def does a wonderful acting job.

Well, start out smaller.
Talk about how impossible it was for a black man to do many things - eat in a "white" restaurant, drink from a "white" water fountain, etc.
Then you can safely assume that while basic life activities were impossible for him, imagine how difficult it was to finish high school, afford college, etc.

That topic is very hard to find on the internet. You might be better off going to a library. But I was able to find a little info for you. Hope this helps.
