This is an issue that many Americans are finding themselves torn on. Some strongly feel one way, some just plain dont know. How about you?

I personally feel that no one but the people involved in ANY marriage have it up to them to decide what they are getting into. NO ONE ELSE!!! I think it's really sad that the Nation feels it's their business to tell people who they should and should not marry. No matter what the sex.
Before, it was the issue of marriages that had different races involved. My husband and i are different in race, we could not imagine how it would be not to be together as a married couple. I think thats how a gay couple that wants to show their bond to the world would feel.

I don't see how someone people getting married can hurt me personally.

If I was religious, then I don't think other people "sinning" would hurt me either, it wouldn't prevent ME from going to heaven.
If I was homophobic, then I dont think other people getting married would affect me simply because marriage or not there are going to be homosexuals.
If I was a republican then more married couples would probably increase the adoption rate which is good because republicans usually oppose abortion, so adoption seems to be the antithesis of abortion.

But I'm none of those and my best friend is gay and I would like to see her happy and I'd like to be a bridesmaid at her wedding.

I'm absolutely for gay marriage. My state currently only allows for civil unions, which is definitely a step in the right direction. Gays are not the ones disrupting the "sanctity of marriage". If someone is against it, well then don't marry someone gay. Don't try to prevent someone else from doing what they want.

I feel that marriage is a religious institution. It has amazingly been able to cross the line that our nation holds so dearly known as the "separation of church and state" and is recognized by the state as a union of a man and a woman. I am for civil unions being equal to marriage. But in our society, its all in the name. Therefore civil unions just won't do for true equality to be established and recognized. It will take time, but I am confident that level headed people will make life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness truly available to all.

Ok, I dont think its natural, I think it would open the door for arguements about other "alternative" lifestyles. But whatever, to me I do not understand what is so attractive about marriage anyway I dont knwo why anyone wants to get married.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I'm a happily married (hetero) man. Homosexuals getting married wouldn't diminish my marriage.

Homosexual couples should be able to have the same legal status and legal rights that hetero couples have.

Let gay people get married, the economy would be improved greatly...Just think of all the money lawyers would make from gay divorces.

It shouldn't be an issue. Equal rights were promised to us in the Constitution and in the Bible, and yet we struggle daily for mere acceptance.

I think let gays live together, not be procrastinated against, and everything else BUT get married, which would let them have the rights of a conventional married couple.

The more gays get married, the worse our economy will get since they can have no kids. Our country will have to rely on importing people from other countries like Iraq, China and the like, and soon we will be destroyed from the inside.
