The all-Asian Harajuku Girls were inspired by Stefani's fascination with the Harajuku girls of Japan, young club kids who have a flippant and fun attitude toward fashion.

What can I say? Most of the Asians like her a lot (including me) and the fact that she did a lot of fashion interest in Japan helps her career.

She's huge in Japan, or actually No Doubt is huge in Japan. I think she wanted to be just as huge on her own. Personally, I don't think it working. I miss the old Gwen.

She has GREAT interest in Harajuku and Japan's cultural style (fashion-wise, presumably).
Sometimes I think it does rub off to the public the wrong way.
Ex: Asian women are "happy" and "cute."
