If I 'jammed' my finger at noon one day and then the next evening it is still blue and swollen and tender, then is it possibly hairline fractured?

When my daughter was 7 her brother slammed her finger in a heavy door. She screamed bloody murder but since she was a drama queen I thought she was over reacting. We went on vacation the next day for four days and she complained the whole time about it and I even tried to make her bend it. Finally when we got home I took her in and sure enough it was broken. I felt like such a bad mother. Go and have it xrayed so it won't grow crooked in case it is broken, that is what the Dr. told me could have happen to my daughter and also arthritis later in life.

Dam if it is blue like a bruise you might be OK and if it is a fracture they really don't do anything about it except splint it. If it is blue like from lack of oxygen you better go see a doctor because you messed up your circulation and your finger will die.

I'm sorry, my xray vision seems to not work through the computer screen.

Best to go to the ER and have it xrayed there.
